City Council of Bolgrad from Ukraine, one of the beneficiaries of the project Development and promotion of the common heritage – DPCH (BSB1010) gather a volunteer group to support the project team to run the activities. There are 44 volunteers involved, divided into two groups: the youngsters (age 14-19) and the adults (age 20-67). The beneficiary considers that involving the volunteers in the city projects is a win-win situation: the municipality gains the community confidence while the volunteers connect to their community and make it a better place.
Vadim Zaim considers that being a volunteer is the smallest drop in the ocean of the activities we can do to improve our world. It is a number of new people you get to know and exchange ideas with. Anyway, it is an improvement and development forward you take part in. You can complain about anything and can do the smallest and easiest things… it all depends on you. As for me, I choose even small steps, but only forward. Being a teacher, I always try to be an example for my pupils and I hope that my positive examples will be continued in my pupils’ activities.
Valerii Dimitrov has been a volunteer for more than ten years and is looking forward to involving as many members of their community as possible: I can say that being a volunteer became my lifestyle. The more people do voluntarism, the better, cleaner, and more kind our world will be. I’m not going to stop and try to involve new people in this positive wave. In 2022 we have started a civil marathon “Do Good”.
According to Bolgrad Mayor Serhiy Dimitriev, the number of volunteers is growing every year. With the Black Sea Basin project, many people joined the volunteer movement in Bolgrad, which cannot help but rejoice. Volunteers of different ages, professions, and views are united by the desire to help and implement various projects for the benefit of the community.
On International Volunteer Day, the project beneficiary rewarded the volunteers for their work, time, and energy.
