The project Clean and Green minds for an environmental friendly behaviour - EcoYOU (BSB00532) has achieved significant progress in its mission to engage local communities in environmental protection, with a special focus on reducing microplastic pollution along rivers, lakes, and coastal areas.
Throughout September and October 2024, the project hosted two joint clean-up events and seven local clean-ups across partner countries, bringing together more than 400 participants. These events mobilized hundreds of students, teachers, and local residents who took action to remove plastic waste from sensitive areas, including rivers, lakes, and coastal regions.
Community Impact: Act for environment
The clean-up activities not only contributed to the immediate removal of visible plastic waste but also encouraged youth and community members to take an active role in acting for the environment. These collective efforts are a proof to the power of community involvement in addressing environmental challenges.
Participants were equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to make a lasting impact on their local ecosystems, fostering a sense of responsibility for their environment. In addition to removing waste, these events served as a platform for educating communities about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and the importance of sustainable practices.
The EcoYOU project is committed to continuing its clean-up efforts and expanding community engagement in future activities. As the project progresses, more joint and local clean-up events are planned to further reduce plastic waste and promote environmental awareness.
Thank you to everyone who participated — a cleaner and more sustainable future is possible for the Black Sea region! 😊
