The project partners of Know What You Breathe: Mobilizing Communities for Air Quality in the Black Sea Basin – AIRQUEST (BSB00168) have initiated the development of an integrated air quality monitoring system across the Black Sea Basin.
This system merges satellite and land-based data to deliver near real-time insights into key air pollutants, providing a comprehensive insight into the region's air pollution levels. Data from partner countries was gathered to create a unified perspective on the issue and to enable coordinated actions to address it.
Key pollutants monitored include particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone (O3). Information collected from project partners includes details on monitoring stations, such as their names, locations, geographical coordinates (longitude, latitude, and altitude), and the pollutants being tracked.
The monitoring platform, accessible at https://cleanair.bsbairquest.com/, was established to provide easy access to the collected data. While satellite-based data has already been integrated into the system, land-based data integration is planned for the next project phase.
These efforts aim to ensure a robust and reliable system for tracking air quality across the region.
