The Municipality of Orestiada has finalized the technical interventions in the Karatheodoris Exhibition Centre in Vyssa. Following the statics study, the project partner is heading towards the end of the technical works for the re-organization of the center.
This part of the project consists of the construction, assembling, and application of showcases, digital printings, lighting, panels, and other particular works aiming at improving the building for hosting educational and other visits in the framework of developing further touristic potential in the area.
The building is located near the existing refectory with an extraordinary view towards Nea Vyssa, Edirne, and Bosna (its residents were those who created the village settlement of Nea Vyssa in Orestiada Municipality) which is the hometown of the Karatheodori family. The building, in relation to the shaped natural and residential environment, maintains its traditional stone character and fully respects the area. Its surface is 320 m2 and is located on a plot of 4.200 m2 surface.
The next step is the development of advanced multimedia applications for the virtual part of the exhibition centre (Virtual Museum) to open access to the worldwide visitor and promote the story and opus of the Karatheodori family and their influence on local and European history.
