During July – August 2020, Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation with the support of Red Cross Varna and Red Cross Burgas held 10 Training seminars for civil protection and coping with accidents. The aim of the sessions was to train the citizens on how to react in crisis and accident situations and to perform first aid.
The topics covered by the training session focused on:
- Natural and manmade disasters and accidents: earthquakes, floods, thunderstorms, various industrial accidents;
- First aid and pre-medical care; primary evaluation of the injured; assessment of all vital signs; contacting first response institutions;
- Unconsciousness; shock; breathing difficulties; preparing the injured person for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and cardiac massage;
- Action plan by heart attacks, strokes, epilepsy, etc.;
- Blood loss; identifying type of blood loss; stopping blood loss with bandages; stopping blood loss with everyday items and equipment;
- Trauma to the head; broken limbs and bones; first aid and securing a bone injury until later treatment;
- Recognizing and primary treating of thermal and chemical injuries, frostbites, poisons and other;
- Practical exercise on the covered topics.
Bulgarian Association for Transfer of Technology and Innovation are happy to report that the participants gave very positive feedback on the training seminars. Many of them recommended these trainings to their relatives and friends who participated in later sessions. The project team will involve the participants in the test module of the mobile application (and web platform) for reporting and responding to accidents and they will be the first ones to know when it’s online. Currently, the development of the mobile application is in progress and will be finalized by the end on the year.
