BSB788 – Zero Waste Strategy: Methods and Implementation in Black Sea Basin is focused on zero waste practices and activities for increasing public awareness for minimizing the marine litter in the Black Sea Basin.
Description
Zero Waste System is covering 39 villages belonging to Vize and Demirkoy districts in Kirklareli region. The system includes the separation of biodegradable and packaging waste, with two containers being placed in each village: a bulky container (3 m3) for collecting domestic waste and a container with a volume of 800 litres for collecting packaging waste. Additionally, the public institutions in each village placed two extra containers for paper and glass to facilitate waste management. Weekly, mobile waste centres collect the waste, biodegradable waste being composted and delivered to the villagers for use in agriculture, while the packaging waste is delivered to the recycling facilities. Further, an ITC tool was developed to calculate the collected waste, the type of waste, and the population involved in the pilot action. Each family received a digital card for waste management.
