The photo contest “Wonders of the Black Sea: a Biodiversity Perspective” is held within the framework of the project “Open environmental eFolio for joint maritime spatial planning and conservation of the valuable Black Sea Basin marine ecosystems”.
The main objective is to promote the conservation of Black Sea biodiversity and natural heritage and raise public awareness about the importance of marine ecosystems and marine protected areas.
The competition, announced on the International Day of the Black Sea on October 31, will last until December 31, 2024
Participants can be individuals from Bulgaria, Romania or Ukraine, or international entrants. Two categories are foreseen: children/youth up to 18 years old, and adults.
Photographs can be submitted in three categories:
- Black Sea marine and coastal fauna and flora: images of various species, single individuals or groups of organisms.
- Black Sea landscapes/seascapes: interaction of organisms with their physical environment.
- Human impact and environmental protection of the Black Sea: human activity and impact on the ecosystems, and efforts to protect the marine and coastal environment.
Selected photos will be exhibited in the online gallery on the website MARMAPS.
