The project Innovative Joint Learning for Environmentally Friendly Behaviour of Communities in the Black Sea Basin is establishing a network of four Environmental Information Centres located in Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, and Türkiye.
These centres aim to promote environmental awareness, education, and responsible behaviour through innovative digital and interactive solutions.
Each centre is equipped with modern IT and educational technologies, including interactive multimedia systems, information kiosks, virtual reality (VR) headsets, and both aerial and water drones. Among the innovative tools is a remotely operated water drone designed for waste removal from water bodies. Together, these technologies support joint actions for an informed and environmentally conscious population while addressing the lack of a unified digital educational platform that integrates specialized and general environmental information.
The first Environmental Information Centre is fully operational in Varna, Bulgaria. It is located in the High-Tech Business Incubator, in the Asparuhovo district, and is ready to deliver immersive educational and outreach activities. The Varna Centre features VR equipment, a multimedia learning unit, and aerial and water drones used for demonstrations and training, fully aligned with the project’s goals of increasing public awareness and stakeholder engagement.

Through virtual reality applications, educational materials, and drone-based demonstrations, the LEARN4SEA project promotes environmentally responsible behaviour, contributes to pollution reduction, and strengthens environmental awareness across the Black Sea Basin.
