The newly constructed fire station in Kameno, Bulgaria is one of the key achievements of the project Co-Resilience: Cooperation for Wildfires Community Resilience Capacity Building and Early Warning in the Black Sea Basin.

The new facility marks an important step in strengthening firefighting capacity and enhancing emergency response infrastructure in the Burgas region. It reflects broader efforts to improve disaster preparedness, foster institutional cooperation, and increase resilience to wildfires and other climate-related risks across the Black Sea Basin.

Built on a plot of land provided by the Municipality of Kameno specifically for this purpose, the fire station is a modern facility designed to enhance local emergency response capabilities. It can accommodate up to six firefighters and two fire engines, significantly improving operational readiness in the municipality and surrounding rural areas. Previously, only two firefighters were stationed in a small garage, limiting the area's response capacity.

The facility will also serve the local volunteer firefighting formation of 12 members by providing dedicated space for equipment storage and training activities, further strengthening community preparedness.

As part of Bulgaria's national fire safety and civil protection system, the new fire station will improve coordination with regional and national emergency services. This will enable faster, more efficient responses to fires, natural disasters, and other emergencies, while enhancing the safety and resilience of local communities.
