The Georgian partner of the EfxINNOs project — Establishing and Operating an Innovative Marine Technology Transfer Network for Enhancing the Transition to a Sustainable Blue Economy in the Black Sea Basin (BSB00193) — has successfully completed the installation of a state-of-the-art monitoring buoy off the Georgian coast in the Black Sea.
Following final site approval and authorization from the Poti Port, the buoy was deployed at coordinates 42°09'33.5"N 41°38'59.8"E. Equipped with a suite of high-precision marine sensors, the buoy has begun transmitting real-time environmental data via the Metrica platform. This deployment marks a key milestone in the project’s mission to support regional ecosystem monitoring and data harmonization among Black Sea Basin partners.
The buoy continuously monitors a range of critical environmental parameters, including: Water temperature, Turbidity, Conductivity, Chlorophyll concentration, Oxygen concentration, Oxygen saturation and Biological Oxygen Demand.
This data will not only enhance scientific understanding of the marine environment but will also feed into Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) models developed as part of the project. These models aim to support smarter decision-making and foster sustainable marine practices across the region.
The EfxINNOs initiative continues to play a vital role in building a more resilient and sustainable Blue Economy for the Black Sea Basin.
