PURE Rivers

Pollution Understanding and Restoration Effort for Rivers

Rivers in the Black Sea region—particularly the Evros, Sakarya, and Supsa—face pollution threats from agricultural runoff, municipal and industrial waste, and microplastics, threatening water quality and ecosystems. The project develops a joint transnational methodology to assess pollution, builds stakeholder capacity, and implements coordinated monitoring and restoration actions to reduce pollution and improve river health.
