Protection of virgin forests as a green solution for the Black Sea

Many high-value virgin forest stands in the Black Sea Basin remain unprotected and are at risk of degradation despite their critical role in biodiversity conservation, climate regulation, and ecosystem services. The project strengthens transnational university partnerships to identify, map, protect, and raise awareness about virgin forests using innovative tools, shared research, and stakeholder engagement, contributing to a green belt around the Black Sea.
