ANEMONE PLUS

Assessing the Vulnerability of the Black Sea Marine Ecosystem to Human Pressures – Promoting Collaboration with Business, Governance, and Citizens for a Sustainable Blue Region

The Black Sea marine ecosystem is severely threatened by human activities such as pollution, eutrophication, invasive species, overfishing, and habitat loss, exacerbated by climate change and uneven research capacities among riparian countries, risking biodiversity, ecosystem services, and regional livelihoods. ANEMONE PLUS seeks to enhance the Black Sea’s resilience and sustainability by fostering transnational collaboration to develop advanced, user-friendly tools and methodologies for environmental monitoring and management, improve stakeholder engagement, and promote informed decision-making toward a smart and sustainable blue economy.
